In partnership with the Center for Allied Health Education (CAHE), St. Francis College offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Radiologic Sciences with concentrations in radiography, radiation therapy and diagnostic medical sonography.
Students complete two years of study at St. Francis College to first obtain an Associate of Arts in liberal arts. They must then apply and be accepted to CAHE to complete the final two years of coursework and clinical rotations, served at locations throughout the New York metropolitan area. St. Francis College students must successfully complete all program requirements at both St. Francis College and CAHE in order for St. Francis College to award the B.S. in Radiological Sciences.
Underlying the focused, outcomes-driven curriculum is SFC’s robust General Education Program, which is the cornerstone of SFC and affirms its mission to graduate educated, well-rounded individuals who enter the workforce and work to change and culturally diversify the world.
Concentration
Radiography
- Radiographers produce images of organs, limbs and other parts of the body using techniques from x-ray to complex and sophisticated scanning methods like magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT). As technology has expanded so has the need for highly trained professionals to fill the varied positions available.
Radiation Therapy
- Along with the radiation oncologist and the radiation physicist, the radiation therapist takes an active role in planning and implementing the course of therapy, and is a key member of the cancer treatment team. In addition to the field of radiation oncology, graduates may develop careers in administration, research, dosimetry, education, or technical consultation.
Diagnostic Medical Sonography
- As a radiation-free medical imaging modality, Diagnostic Medical Sonography provides important clinical information for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. There are several areas of specialization in the field of sonography which include obstetrics/gynecology, abdomen, echocardiography, vascular, breast, and pediatric sonography
