Sociology B.A.

Sociology B.A.

Bachelor's Degree | St Francis College - Brooklyn, NY

A Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from St. Francis College provides the foundation for students to pursue graduate studies or careers in social services, including law, social work, law enforcement, probation, and non-profit organizational service and management. The goal of a sociology degree is to prepare students to solve social problems, such as help eliminate homelessness, assist crime victims, reduce inequity, and create meaningful public policy.

In the program, students will identify function and interrelationships between the major components of the American criminal justice system, critically analyze key criminological theories, understand the relationship between theory and criminal justice policy, and be able to explain the impact of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, and class on criminal justice outcomes.

Underlying the focused, outcomes-driven curriculum is SFC’s robust General Education Program, which is the cornerstone of SFC and affirms its mission to graduate educated, well-rounded individuals who enter the workforce and work to change and culturally diversify the world.
